“Right of a senior citizen to live properly in the shared household”

For every human being, home fulfills the basic need of Safety-shelter. The first priority and a dream for a person is to settle down in life by creating a shelter by owning a house . In today’s day to day life, it is a struggle for senior citizens to live in their own house . It is  so bad to hear that , we have bought a senior citizen act . Why was it needed? What led to its formulation ?

The right of senior citizens to live in a peaceful manner and  not like “maid in house”. Children should give them a better life, where they get happiness, peace and life. It is the responsibility of their children to take care of their parents , but unfortunately , there are some people in our society who keep their parents in “Vridh Ashram”. Some reside together , but they do not let them live in  peace and protection . They’ll show in front of the world that they care a lot about their parents , but the reality is something else.

In today’s world it is not necessary that we need a law or should become an act, all of this should be in the thought process and widely followed as these are ethics and morals .

In today’s era , children do not want to keep their elderly parents with them , because they want freedom . In the name of freedom, they leave their parents alone in vridh ashram or throw them out of the house with such an arrogance and discourtesy , they make their family unsafe , and to live irresponsibly, which has an ill effect on their children ultimately ,  the feeling of loved , togetherness  , feeling of being in family is eloping day by day

It is very important for elderly people to stay in the family to have the power to keep them together and to have a sense of belonging, so that the children inculcate good values in them. The education  of respect, belongingness and love of one’s parents and elders come from the elders only . He inspires children to be self-reliant, fearless and courageous. And give them ideals in society and show the way to move and grow with the rules. Giving complete information about our festivals, and customs and having familiar and introductions with them. All these things , complete information and good values always come from them, and we are not taking care of our elders. How bad it is!

So, The fundamental rights given to the elders these days are deprived, putting themselves in troubled life .

Police,  society or the government should check whether they are getting their fair treatment and enjoying their rights or not. So that the discipline remains. They all have right to live in a peaceful and better life. No one can take their rights from them. and if someone abrupt this, it should be taken into serious cognizance. It’s our and their duty , to save their rights together. Government of India  to provide more effective provision for maintenance and welfare of parents and senior citizens.

In this article,an attempt has been made to portray the benefits that are provided  to the senior citizens which are as follows :

  1. Tax benefits
  2. Cheaper air travel tickets
  3. Cheaper railway tickets
  4. Reduced telephone charges
  5. Banking made simpler
  6. Court hearing priority
  7. Welfare schemes
  8. Simpler passport application
